Co-sponsored
by Somerset County United Way, the Courier News and Ethicon, a
Johnson & Johnson company, STAR Awards is a celebration of
caring people and all that they do for our community. Volunteers
are honored in several categories, including youth, adult, senior,
youth group, adult group and family group. This year, more than
900 people were recognized at the STAR Awards reception.
"STAR
Awards brings the community together, not only to thank our many
volunteers, but also to spotlight the impact they have on our
quality of life," said Allen Reese, Somerset County United
Way president. "By donating their time and their skills,
volunteers make possible many important community programs and
services. The people we honor at STAR Awards come from all walks
of life and represent all segments of our community. It's an evening
we come together to celebrate the spirit of caring."
At the event, Somerset County United Way also presented the Christian
T. Nielsen Unsung Hero awards, honoring both an outstanding volunteer
and an employee in the health and human services field who go
above and beyond to serve the people of Somerset County.
